Episode 142: Ukraine’s Resistance to Putin’s Invasion in 2025

Co-hosts Andrew Kliman and Gabriel Donnelly welcome guests Reuben from Worker’s Liberty UK and Brie, a member of the Ukrainian democratic-socialist organization Sotsialnyi Rukh (Social Movement). She told us about how the invasion has impacted peoples’ day to day lives, the burdens on the soldiers, and the continued resistance of the Ukrainian people.

We also discussed recent Ukrainian protests that quickly and successfully defeated Zelenskyy’s relaxation of anti-corruption laws. Reuben told us about efforts in the UK to build up solidarity with Ukraine and to directly confront the soft-on-Putin left. The conversation, unlike much discussion of Ukraine on the Left, centered on the Ukrainian people’s experience and the real impact of Putin’s imperialism.

During the conversation, we discussed donating to solidarityzone.net as a way for those in the West to support anti-war protests in Russia. Additionally, Reuben mentioned Worker’s Liberty’s new pamphlet that confronts the soft-on-Putin tendencies of Communist Party-run Morning Star paper. That pamphlet can be read here.

Plus current-events segment: Food Fight against Trump’s Occupation of US cities. At least six grand juries refuse to indict people who have resisted, including the now-famous “sandwich guy.”
