Episode 126: Anti-Rallo: Spanish Libertarian Tries—but Fails-to Destroy Marx’s Capital (with Carlos Ezquerra and Sebastian Hernandez)
Carlos Ezquerra and Sebastián Hernandez join co-hosts Andrew Kliman and Gabriel Donnelly to discuss the rising influence of libertarianism in the Spanish-speaking world. Much of the discussion focuses on the influential book Anti-Marx, published by Spanish libertarian Juan Ramón Rallo in 2022, and Andrew’s recent response to it. Andrew demonstrated that Rallo’s attempt to destroy Capital’s theories of value, the origin of profit, and the falling rate of profit is a complete failure. Sebastián’s translation projects are also discussed. Carlos Ezquerra González lives in Spain. He does research in the philosophy of science and considers the Marxist tradition in relation to it. Sebastián Hernandez Solorza lives in Mexico and runs the Spanish-language website Tiempos Críticos, which carries his prodigious translations of works on Marx and the Marxian critique of political economy. He recently translated Andrew’s article on Rallo as well as a long-running book-length debate between Andrew and Fred Moseley, ¿Forma valor o sustancia valor? Debate sobre 'El Capital' de Marx. Plus current-events segment: the co-hosts discuss Doug Henwood’s recent apologetic in Jacobin on behalf of Trump voters.
