Episode 139: The Israel-Hamas War and National Self-Determination

Co-hosts Andrew Kliman and Gabriel Donnelly welcome back Marxist-Humanist thinker and worker Theresa Henry. Our discussion is based upon Marxist-Humanist Initiative’s February editorial “After the Israel-Hamas Cease-Fire,” of which Theresa was the principal author. The discussants make clear Marxist-Humanist Initiative’s position on the Israel-Hamas War and on the principle underlying it, affirmation of the right of of national self-determination.

Additionally, they respond to various misrepresentations, smears, and misunderstandings of this position, arguing that MHI’s principled stand on the principle of national self-determination, and the right of Jews and Palestinians to self-determine their national identities, is the only path forward for socialist internationalists.

Plus current-events segment: Andrew and Gabriel discuss the Signal Project put forward by the Third Way, a centrist Democratic Party think tank, and other expressions of the desire within the Democratic Party to accommodate Trumpism by surrendering the fight for liberal democracy.
