On June 1, Marxist-Humanist Initiative (MHI) held two panels at the “No War but the Class War” conference, organized by Historical Materialism and the Institute for the Radical Imagination. The conference took place at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York, from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2.
We distributed MHI’s May 29 statement, Silence, Absence, Abdication, at the conference. It states that “we are alarmed and disheartened that much of the left has responded to this crisis”—the ongoing authoritarianism and the possibility of immanent authoritarian rule in the US—“with near-total silence[, including] at this conference.”
Our first panel was titled “Karl Marx Had Your Number: His writings slam today’s left tendencies.” Andrew Kliman, Theresa Henry, Francisco Palacios, and Anne Jaclard gave presentations. Our second panel was titled “What is Holding Back a Mass Movement Against the Imminent Danger of Trumpist Fascism?” Gabriel Donnelly, Anne Jaclard, Andrew Kliman, and Theresa Henry gave presentations.
Here are the videos of the panels’ presentations:
